Bobby's Dedication

On November 30, 2014, we had Robert Barrett Lewis dedicated at church.

"In presenting our child for dedication, we confess our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  We trust and depend on Him for the wisdom to bring up our child.

We accept our role to "train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6).  We claim this verse as instruction for our own lives as parents.

Following the Biblical example of Hannah when she dedicated her son Samuel saying "I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him.  So now I will give him to the Lord; for his whole life, he will be given to the Lord" (1 Samuel 1:27-28), we now dedicate our child to the Lord.

As parents, we pledge to put God's words in our own hearts and minds, and to teach them to our child.

We therefore accept as our duty and privilege to model a godly life for our child, to exercise all godly care that they be brought up in the Christian faith, that they be taught the Holy Scriptures, and that they learn the necessity of private and public worship of God.

We understand and accept our role as the primary spiritual leaders in the life of our child and we seek to partner with the ministry and guidance of the Church until they, by the power of God, shall receive for themselves the gift of salvation, and seek to become a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ."

Following the service, we had our family over to celebrate.
